There is no universal agreed upon definition of the difference between counselling and psychotherapy.
Counselling focuses on recent presenting issues and is often solution-focused and provides coping strategies and problem solving techniques.
Psychotherapy has a broader focus and can explore patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving with one of the goals being greater self-awareness and personal development.
Counselling and Psychotherapy can help with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship problems, grief and loss.
A counselling or psychotherapy session lasts for fifty minutes and is 70 euro.
Anything discussed during the sessions remains confidential except in certain circumstances these are:
If you present as suicidal or have suicidal thoughts confidentiality will need to be broken.
If there is a risk to you, a child under the age of 18, a vulnerable adult or an identified adult confidentiality will need to be broken.
If there is any disclosure of abuse past or present confidentiality will need to be broken.
A minimum of 24 hours notice is required to cancel an appointment, appointments cancelled within 24 hours are subject to a cancellation fee.
I aim to give a minimum of 24 hours notice for any sessions that need to be rescheduled.
